Kame House Restaurant - Case Study

Kame House (亀家 — Turtle House) is a full brand identity project for a traditional Japanese restaurant concept created to stand out in Knoxville, Tennessee’s dining scene.

Tasked with branding a restaurant that would outshine local competitors, I chose to focus on authentic Japanese cuisine rather than the Americanized versions commonly found in the area. The goal was to bring a genuine taste of Japan to East Tennessee through refined design that feels both elegant and inviting.

Using a sophisticated color palette of deep black, vibrant red, and crisp white, the brand balances traditional Japanese minimalism with appetite appeal — red strategically used to stimulate hunger while black and white convey refinement and contrast.
The result is a calm, warm, and knowledgeable brand personality that welcomes adventurous diners who crave real traditional Japanese dishes. With the mission “Fresh. Traditional. Flavorful.” at its core, Kame House differentiates itself by staying true to authentic recipes, techniques, and ingredients — offering an immersive cultural experience rather than a familiar American adaptation.
